Resettlement and Rehabilitation of Narmada Dam Oustees

From 1981, ARCH advocated for ~10,000 tribal families from Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh displaced by the Sardar Sarovar Project. Seven years of lobbying with the Gujarat Government and World Bank led to a landmark 1987 R&R policy: Minimum 2 hectares of irrigable land per family (treating major sons as separate units) plus other benefits. ARCH then collaborated with the government to implement it, directly assisting families in securing entitlements.
